It begins in the early 60s, I was just born. My grandfather was looking for a house in the countryside, where to spend his free time and enjoy the family and he found this place, between Città della Pieve and Castiglione del Lago, in Umbria.
A farmhouse to be restored, an oven with the date of construction carved on, 1864, which perhaps in its time had been a collective oven. And then a couple of barns, lots of woods, wheat fields and a few hundred olive trees. No water, no light, almost not even the road to get there. He renovated it and since then it has been our family home, where we spent holidays, long summer months, studied for high school exams with friends, welcomed dogs abandoned by hunters, raised litters of our dogs, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera...
In the 90s my sister Daniela and I decided to devote ourselves to the production of extra virgin olive oil and hospitality, and we started working, with the help of family, loves and friends. We planted other olive trees, made the farmhouse more welcoming and comfortable and here we are today, with our organic extra virgin olive oil "Le Vie Bianche" is a beautiful farmhouse for 10 people that has completely maintained the original structure, exposed beams and stone, terracotta floors and period furnishings.
The garden is beautiful, many roses, aromatic, climbing and fruit trees.
Le Vie Bianche has never seen architects, neither interiors nor gardens, there is the hand of our mother, and then ours, everywhere, inside and outside.
Our company, in the hills, has a total area of 35 hectares, 5 of olive groves, the rest forest and pine forest with marked paths where you can walk, a pond and a stream. The olive trees are a total of 1200, 300 over the age of 80, the rest more than 20 years. The varieties are typical of our areas: frantoio, moraiolo, leccino, dolce agogia.
